Former Unified Light –Welterweight Champion has expressed his disappointment at not fighting Floyd Mayweather, despite signing a new three fight deal with Eddie Hearn. Speaking to Mafisportsmedia when asked if he is back for good in the UK now he said:

“For sure I am back for good. Most of my fighting will be in the UK now. I will probably still do my training in America with Virgil Hunter but most of my but most of my fighting will be in the UK now. For the last five years I have been fighting away from home, fighting in Vegas. My dream was always to fight in Vegas, LA, New York Madison Square Garden and I did do that. I thought I would team up with the best promoter in the UK having the biggest fights and Eddie (Hearn) in my opinion is probably one of the best promoters. Who better to do it with than Eddie?”

I asked him how frustrating was it when the top boxers did not want to fight him including Mayweather and he said: “ You know what? Mayweather is a great champion honestly I am never going to take that away from him. It is frustrating and it hurts you a little bit.  I look back on it now and think it is what it is. It never happened. I respect him. What Mayweather has done in his career is amazing.  Things is life sometimes don’t happen. Maybe God did not want it to happen and it did not happen. Maybe it is for the best.”

There are still some big fights out there for Khan and when he was asked about what the biggest fight out there is for him he said: “The biggest fight out there for me?  Look you have got Keith Thurman and you have got Danny Garcia.  The rematch will Garcia will be big. If you bring those guys to the UK to fight everyone knows them. Kell Brook is there as well.”

When pressed to name one fighter he would love to fight he said: “At 147 currently I think it would be Danny Garcia. I want revenge and I want to clean up.”

Khan is back in action in Liverpool on April 21 against an opponent, which will be announced soon.
