The Tottenham Hotspur Boss Mauricio Pochettino was full of praise for his 20 year old Argentine defender Juan Foyth after his first career goal secured three crucial points away at Crystal Palace.

He said: “ The confidence and trust from us with Juan Foyth is massive. Today he showed great character and I am happy for him. He helped the team to win and it is a good feeling. It is a fantastic moment for him. To improve you need to make mistakes. He is so clever and has a lot of potential.” The Spurs manager was referring to Foyth giving away two penalties against Wolves last week. Pochettino said he told him after the Wolves game: “ You need to forget this situation. That was his debut in the Premier League. We all helped him to forget and compete.”

On Hugo Lloris’ form he said: “ I am happy with him. They are not machines. He is always one of the best. I am supportive of my players because they need to give their best on the pitch. They need to feel that you support them so that they can do that.”

On Spurs new stadium he said : “ It is stunning. When I saw the stadium it was like waoh!  It was difficult to talk. I had a little vision about the players playing in that stadium. I would like to say to our fans that they should be patient as it is going to be the best stadium in Europe.”

I think in the last four years a Spurs victory here has been a classic. Today it rained a lot and it was difficult to play fantastic football the way we wanted to play.”

Roy Hodgson said:” It is hard to take when a team puts in effort like they have in our last two games. There are no words.  Wilfried Zaha picked up a hamstring injury against Chelsea. We will try and get him fit for the Manchester United game.  We did not lose today because Wilf was not here. They took advantage from a corner. I will not say we are in two different leagues. We don’t have a big squad but it is a competitive one. We are not going to get better by signing other teams’ reserves. We are going to have to find players who are better.”
